They played all summer at fundraiser dances, amusement parks, and parades for Danny Thomas' St. Jude Hospital.
Joining the “Roamin' Empire” in fall of 1969, he played high schools, halls, and small concerts. Frank played in numerous bands in the Detroit area at bars, festivals, concerts, and casinos. He sang in the chorus in the opera “Amhal and the Night Visitors” three years, and was the boatswain in “H.M.S. Pinafore”, put on by Main Street Opera Theater. He also performed a show “Holiday Nights at the Eagle Tavern” in Greenfield Village with Opera Lite.

Lead Vocalist, Karen Higgins was brought up in Novi Michigan. She comes from a musical background as her mother sang with big bands in the 40’s and played the organ. Karen started playing piano and guitar at 10 years old, and sang in choirs all through school. She sang with the trio “Beau Endero” which did a lot of home recordings of original music and their own renditions of popular songs. She took a break from music to raise 4 girls. She got back into music sitting in with bands and joining the acoustic rock group “Sunset Six” who recorded a cd of pop hits. She then was in the band “Extreme Resistance” for a short time. She is one of the original members of Second Wind.

Drummer, Vocalist, Michael Capeneka received his first drum kit at the age of 7. He began playing drums along to rock and jazz albums in his basement after school. From there, watching and listening to other drummers from all genres has shaped his musical background.
Michael’s goal has always been to “play what’s right for the song”. It’s what’s continued to develop his style and versatility as a drummer. This has served him well as he’s performed in bands across the music spectrum: rock, jazz, blues and country.
Currently residing in his home town in Livonia Michigan, Mike plays regularly at local venues & festivals throughout the state. He plays Gretch drums and Zildjian cymbals.
Outside of music, Mike spends time with his wife and 3 kids. He enjoys running, biking, sailing and kayaking.

Bass, Vocalist, John Fitzgerald hails from London, England Where he cut his musical teeth playing the vibrant club circuit. Since relocating to the Detroit area, John has played with many of the local talented performers.
John's influences include Peter Green, Steely Dan, Jack Bruce, Brian Wilson, Motown and of course the Beatles.

Keyboards, Guitar, Vocalist, Larry James began his musical journey back in the 70's touring the US and Canada playing bass in a 50's and 60's show band “Rock and the Sharks” which later became “Rocks Gang” from Detroit. It was a great experience for him performing in every major city and opening up for many artists such as Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels, Bob Segar and many more.
Most recently he performed with “Mob Opera” who won 1st place in a WCSX contest and opened for the “Little River Band” on the Detroit river.
From his experience performing in show bands, Larry learned that it's not just about the music. It's about entertaining the audience.
It is his pleasure to be working with the talented professional musicians in Second Wind.
