DIG A PHONY - BEATLES Tribute Band

Detroit's own Dig A Phony is fanatical about reproducing songs from The Beatles recording catalog - LIVE.

From the cowbell in “Drive My Car”, to the handclaps in “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”, to the kazoo sound in “Lovely Rita” (even though it was actually paper & combs), to the guitar fade out on “A Hard Day’s Night”– you will hear the song as it sounds on the album.
It’s a kind of "hybrid" approach to the whole Beatles tribute thing. We take the use of the accurate gear from the look-alike acts, and the sound-alike act’s freedom to play anything from the entire Beatles catalog and combine it all to deliver a purist’s production - a true tribute to the greatest pop music group of all time.

Dave Dean : Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards
Bob Jankowski : Bass, Charlie Dentel : Vocals, Keyboards
Glenn Giordano : Drums

What You’re Doing
Dig A Phony is Southeast Michigan’s premier Beatles tribute production. We are fanatical about reproducing the studio versions of The Beatles songs - live. From the cowbell in “A Hard Day’s Night”, to the handclaps in “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”, to the kazoo sound in “Lovely Rita” (even though it was actually paper & combs), to the crazy Lennon and McCartney banter at the end of “Hey Bulldog”– you will hear each song as it sounds on the album, as you’re used to hearing it . . . minus the bad wigs and pseudo-Cockney accents.
Formed in 2008, Dig A Phony takes a hybrid approach to the whole Beatles tribute thing. We take the use of the accurate Beatle gear and stage elements from the look-alike acts, and the sound-alike act’s freedom to play anything from the entire Beatles catalog and combine it all to deliver a purist’s production.
Tell Me Why
If it's true that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, The Beatles should be more flattered than any other music act in history – and they are. If you run a quick Google search or scan YouTube you will find a surprising number of "Fake Beatle" bands from all over the world - bands that do more than just play a few songs of The Beatles. These groups are compelled to take on the mystique of The Beatles phenomenon and have taken up the torch in homage to the Fab Four, most complete with mop-top wigs, Beatle boots, fake accents and witty vintage stage banter. You can find dress-up bands from any and all Beatle eras - most of the acts look great, some sound great, some of them even manage to pull off both. A few just perform The Beatles music for the sake of the great and innovative music it is, without much regard for the individual personalities and the public spectacle that filled the airwaves in the 1960’s. After all, the music is what started the whole thing, the music is what continues to inspire new generations of fans, and the music is what fueled Dig A Phony to create a true tribute to the greatest pop music group of all time.
